 The amount of bravado displayed by Fantio is not even shocking anymore. But considering he's been given "carte blanche" to behave in such a manner for so long, but both municipal and Provincial levels of government, why should he bother to hide his obvious attempts, at furthering his facist stronghold over Ontario citizens? He's just taking his lead, from peers such as Toronto Mayor David Miller, and Premier of Ontario Dalton McGuinty.

 

 Even a few decades ago, Fantino's behavior would have sent absolute shockwaves thoughout the Province. The notion that a supposedly impartial "officer of the law", sworn to "keep the peace", and "to protect and serve" the general public's best interest, could ALSO formulate AND dictate political policy, is incomprehensible. As doing both at the same time SCREAMS of social hypocrisy. But as a bunch of politically-correct, left-wing, passive tree-hugging aphids, most of us apparently don't find the notion of being babysat, or presumed "guilty" instead of "inocent", very insulting to our psyche.

 

 It's interesting to note, Fantino's "absolute liability legislation" if passed, would, by proxy, make him a "FREE AGENT" working for all companies  insuring motor vehicles in Ontario. Because REMEMBER! It will be HIS minions, determining whether or not an insurance company has to pay out for an accident. And speaking of such....When  EXACTLY was the last time YOU told YOUR boss, when to "cut a cheque"? And furthermore, for how much?

 

 DO NOT be fooled, by Fantino's statement, about his proposed legistation being geared towards, “those who could care less about how they are driving".  Anything purposely phrased that vaguely, is unquestionably meant to be used arbitrairly. Like, for instance, when THE PROVINCE NEEDS TO GENERATE REVENUE. As is the case with Fantino's OTHER previous revenue-generating brainchild. The "roadside seizure" law. Passed last year, to ALSO curb "dangerous driving" (Just HOW MANY laws do we need, for the SAME "problem"?).

 

 After this latest facist crackdown on civil rights, I hope some of you finally see the light of day.

 Some please explain to me just HOW this qualifies as a "huge success"? How EXACTLY does this stem the tide, of illegally obtained firearms coming across the border into Canada? Precisely HOW MANY of those illegally obtained firearms were turned into the police, by their career criminal owners? And does anyone notice the hypocrisy of Blair's comments? This isn' the first time these "amnesty" tactics has been employed by the City of Toronto. Yet, by Blair's own admission, "the number of shootings increased during the year".  First and foremost, before anyone goes ape on me, let me state this emphatically: I DO NOT endorse drunk driving, and I don't drive drunk. I lost a family member to a drunk driver, and both my mother and myself have actually been hit by drunk drivers. If you choose to do so and get caught, you should pay the consequesnces of your actions (Unless, of course, you carry a badge. Then you're obviously given a 'free pass'. But that's another story entirely.).

 

 I hold two class licenses, with full priviledges. With over 18 years experience. In acquiring both, I was subjected to the same classroom training, regarding alcohol-related vehilce use. Which literally was the EXACT, SAME education I had received the first time, WAY back in the year 1990. Involving body mass, rate of consumption, and time tables. While there are a host of variables involved with each individual (height, weight, history of use, food consumption during, or prior to consumption of drink, etc.), the crux of what is taught revolves around longstanding, scientific principles. Which state, for every alcoholic beverage you ingest (1 beer, 1 glass of wine, 1 shot) it takes your body 1 HOUR to process said drink. So, with or without a meal, if I consume 4 drinks, I should wait a minimum of 4 hours, before getting behind the wheel. Using the above principles, I was told one can reasonably gauge when it is once again safe for you to drive. Again. This was taught to me, by PROVINCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE INSTRUCTORS. LICENSED AGENTS, for the Province of Ontario. Additionally, two of whom said they drive themselves after consuming alcohol. But only if the quantity includes no more than 1 beverage.

 

 Now, the Toronto Police are quoted as saying in the above article, ""There are no boundaries for time.". Which goes DIRECTLY against what I've been taught scientifically TWICE previously. When did this new breakthrough come about? Where are the documented trials and research?

 

 So exactly WHO is right? Thousands upon thousands of scientific studys, backed by decades of research (Which apparently, is considered concrete enough for the Province to use in its classrooms.), OR, the police? Based on their train of thought, if I have a couple drinks Frday, should I STILL have my car parked Sunday afternoon? Because AGAIN: "There are no boundries for time.". In the same sense, if a police officer has a couple drinks on a Friday, is it REALLY safe for them to come back to work on Sunday, and be carrying a gun? Because REMEMBER: "There are no boundries for time". They could still very well be "drunk", right?

 

 It's these types of remarks that throw everything into question, and just sets back the educational process at a time when it needs to progess forward. Call me a pessimist, but I HIGHLY doubt all the members of the Toronto Police department, are cabbing it back from their Christmas parties this year. 

 

 Please understand: This is primairly NOT a 'rant' on hypocrisy. But a genuine plea for clarification on the subject. I think blanket statements like the one made in the above article, do not benefit the general public as a whole. Especailly when "two sides of the same coin" are sending mixed messages on the same subject.
