October 30 Programs that DON'T work...... Just how effective are our socialst leaders at all levels of government, when it comes community safety? I'm so happy you asked! Let us examine some recent cases.
Aparently, someone neglected to inform Kyle Weese....
....about the "Pixels for Pistols" program.
If he had been, no doubt the shooting at the Duke Taven would not have transpired. Weese's lengthy criminal history and sociopathic behavior, can obviously be traced back to his lack of a photography career. Besides. I hear most "alleged" murders are, in fact, closet shutterbugs.
And ONCE AGAIN, we are privy to an ever-growing social problem, that NO politician wants to touch with a ten-foot pole.
What's worse than a person wandering the streets with an illegally-obtained firearm? How about an UNMEDICATED, PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIC, who refuses to take their medication, with an illegally obtained firearm?
Don't worry, kids! As was the case with my late neighbour, who was murdered by the same type of indivdual, the Province has already wrapped up this incident in a tidy, little package. Having their "P.R." spin doctors working overtime, in order to make sure the gravity of the situation doesn't get a chance to set in with the general public. And furthermore, to make sure "John Q. Schizoid" receives a nice, comfortable 6-month stay at your local "Funny Farm", before he's re-depoisted back out onto the street. Where he'll inevitably ONCE AGAIN stop taking his medication, and ONCE AGAIN become of societal threat. Because, as one psychiatrist so aptly put it to me, "That's the incidious nature of that disease. It always makes the patient believe they are cured, and subsequently no longer need to take their medication.". If this happend to one of my family members? I'd bankrupt myself suing the Province, until they finally took responsibility for their "Mickey Mouse" approach, to this ever-growing public threat.
I find it hypocritical, that they force people with HIV to disclose their status to potential sexual partners, because the disease itself is "life-threatening" to someone else. Yet they don't have any programs in the works, that compels diagnosed schizophrenics to regluarly take their medication. Even when the end result is the same (i.e. A direct threat to public safety). The above story is a prime example of this. A REPEATED, prime example at that.
But what do I know? I just live here.
October 20 "Safety Assured" my ASS.. Just out of curiousity, who would YOU trust?
Self-regulated farmer Michael Schmidt. Who's never had a health-related issue with his milk sales in over 20 years:
OR.....
Our municipal, Provincial, and Federal health-governing bodies. Who's death-rate this season, is already WELL into the double-digits:
Um...I think I'll have that glass of milk now.
And while on the topic of "public safety"......
Take note of Troy Diberto's comments in the very last three lines of that article. Ya, Troy. Your's isn't an obviously BIASED opinion, is it? Because it's not like you OPERATE AN ESTABLISHMENT IN THAT AREA. Or would be worried about SCARING AWAY CUSTOMERS. A whole three months, eh Troy? And none of it even in peak season? Ya. Call me mid-summer next year, and let me know how passive and quaint it is, in the ol' "Entertainment District". When the shot blasts are ringing out on a nightly basis, and you can set your watch by their frequency.
October 16 Politics 101: "How to vote, by NOT voting...." OH! The HORROR! Only 58% of eligible Canadians cast a ballot on election day....
Of course, the Toronto Sun was a repository for election-related letters to the editor. With political neophytes like Caroline Woodward...
...doing everything in her power, to frame those who chose NOT to vote, as less "patriotic" for doing so.
Mrs. Woodward....Allow me to explain something to you.
On election day, EVERYBODY votes. EVERYBODY. Whether you darken the doors of a polling station, or remain sequestered in the confines of your own home, EVERYBODY has their say. "How so, if you don't cast a ballot?", you ask? Well, easy. Let's use the analogy of "Capital Punishment" to help clarify my point.
In the United States of America, some states still allow the condemned to choose their method of execution (Gas chamber, lethal injection, firing squad, or hanging.). Not all, but some. When you take into consideration the end result being the same (i.e. DEATH), the offer could almost be construde as insulting to the inmate. As it promotes the illusion that choosing one over the other, may leave the condemed better off. Which is clearly NOT THE CASE.
In certain instances, the electorial process is really no different when you think about it. This year's was a prime example. Your had a ballot with only handful of candidates to choose from. Most of which have made it a career of breaking past electorial promises, or who's platforms were either economically and socially insufficient, and/or obviously not based on "real world" scenairos. Therefore honestly not feesable, or practical. In such an instance, requesting a person to vote, is essentially asking them to pick the "lesser of the evil's", for the sake of appeasing the democratic process. So therefore, one can't be chewed out publically by people such as yourself (Which, if you ask me, is REALLY "unpatriotic". As it asks them to go directly against their social conscious as a whole.). And for the record, I know several people who have "fought for this country", who would undoubtably KICK MY ASS WORSE, if I dared vote against my social conscious, than if I voted just for the sake of appeasing others. Apparently, 42% of Canadians feel the same way I do. This number probably made a bigger statement, than any one of the political drones, yapping senselessly from their podium.
So Mrs. Woodward...If you wish to follow the herd, that's entirely your prerogative. Just don't expect a sizable portion of Canada to fall for your guilt trip, when the "lack of choice" leaves us NO choice but to NOT vote.
